Recovery of agricultural terraces in the Cinque Terre area

Posted on 18 April 2015, in Blog

With the beginning of the touristic season the recovery of the two most intensively cultivated hills in our area have been completed. These two hills are the Costa della Posa e Valle dei Pozzi, where in the early eighties were installed the first two monorails of Cinque Terre.

They are two beautiful hills that form a natural amphitheater characterized by the famous agricultural terraces of the Cinque Terre supported by hundreds of stone walls that have been built to support this steep land that from a height of about 400 meters slops down to the sea.

The recovery has been made on part of the 586 trail that from Volastra reaches Case Pianca and continues down to Corniglia on the 587 trail. (more…)

Path n. 6d – 7a from Volastra to Corniglia

Posted on 28 May 2014, in Blog

Path 6d is the trail that from Volastra reaches Case Pianca and then Corniglia through path 7a. This trail is one of the most spectacular and well maintained throughout the National Park of Cinque Terre.
It is a very pleasant walk of about 1 hour and 15 minutes all together.
The trail starts from the square of the Romanesque church of Volastra, built in the X century. This sanctuary is dedicated to Our Lady of Health and right where the trail starts there is a beautiful sandstone block with an iron cross, expertly worked by the artists of that time.
A hundred meters after leaving the village of Volastra you will be immediately captivated by the view of the coast overlooking Manarola on your left and Corniglia on your right. (more…)

Paths’ Restoration

Posted on 1 February 2012, in Blog

This year, also due to the catastrophic events of last autumn, we are working together with other residents of Volastra in the restoration of the paths that link our village to the other villages of the Cinque Terre.
First of all we started to restore path no. 6d which starts from the church of Volastra and reaches Corniglia in about 1 hour and 15 minutes. It goes through a little group of houses called Pianca and the beautiful terraced vineyards. This trail is very special due to the characteristic monorails used for transportation of the grapes, the Mediterranean olive trees and its beautiful sea view for the entire walk.
