The Nativity of Manarola

17 December 2014

Every year in Manarola illuminates the biggest Nativity in the World!

In the picturesque scenery of the Hill of Three Crosses, above Manarola, in the heart of the National Park of Cinque Terre, the evening of the 8th of December thousands of lights illuminate the Nativity in the vineyards until February 8, a tradition repeats for thirty years now.

The Nativity was designed and built by Mario Andreoli, Italian railway official, now retired. Since 1976 he dedicates his life to the creation of a unique work of its kind, and after 30 years it has been able to cover the entire hill. In 2007 the largest Nativity was opened immediately entered in the Guinness Book of Records.

For the realization of the Nativity were used 8 km of electric cables, 17,000 light bulbs, more than 300 life-size figures, (made from recycled materials or unused). In 2008 the Nativity has also become ecologically, a photovoltaic system was built affixed to this.

Ignition occurs every night until “Candelora”,  that the first days of February.
Do not miss it! Who has seen remained entranced by her beauty.
